It's all about the babies.

There isn't much to say about these photos except for...I CAN'T GET OVER THE CUTENESS!!! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Our boys...

...are growing up so fast! It's so nice we have boys the same age. They play together so well and its fun to see them both grow up. After all, being pregnant at the same time is what brought us together. We exchanged duties doing each others maternity photos. This photo was taken this October when we were doing each others family photos. My how candy is a great bribe during photo time!

Shopping for a new camera?

Lately we've had a few people ask us about DSLR cameras and which one to buy. It got me thinking, what does DSLR really mean? "Digital single-lens reflex cameras (also named digital SLR or DSLR) are digital cameras combining the parts of a single-lens reflex camera (SLR) and a digital camera back, replacing the photographic film." source But what does that mean even? I thought this blog did a great job of really breaking down each part of the manual photography components. Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed (SS). Layman terms With Christmas just around the corner, and the abundance of photography tutorials on the web these days, it's no wonder more and more people are buying these fancy DSLR cameras. We are both Canon girls.  I grew up with my dad's old-school Canon film camera so by default I've always been a Canon shooter. While I've used both and really did enjoy the Nikon as well, I will stick with what I know.  A great beginner DSLR Canon is the Canon Rebel t3i. We would like to point out that there is a Canon Rebel t4i on the market, but we feel that the t3i is the best for the money.  The t4i has many nice features, but the typical user wouldn't use them so the extra money wouldn't be worth it.

The Weber Family

We photographed the Weber family on a sunny October day when the leaves were still gold. The littlest Weber had no interest in sitting so we let her run around and followed her paparazzi style. Check out her cute tights and headband!   Carri and I both have boys, so we get excited about all the cute girl clothing and accessories. Enjoy!

Doggies!

This was a fun shoot.  One beautiful woman and her three adorable doggies!  Mary is a wonderful woman who also happens to be an animal rights activist. She is in the process of writing a book too!  I loved how these photos turned out and I hope you do as well.

O' Christmas tree

Before I really got into photography I always wanted to know how to photograph my Christmas Tree, to really capture the lights, carisma, ambiance-spirit of the tree. But my photos often turned out sub-par. So if you're familiar with Manual mode or not even-get ready-it's really not too difficult. Set your aperture around 3.2-4.0 I used f/3.2 for this shot. Set your ISO unusually high -around 3200 I used a shutter speed of 1/25 which is pretty slow. I steadied myself with a tripod, but you could use a table top. Just stay still.

I also had no lights on except the tree lights.

Viola-beautiful twinkly Christmas tree pics. There are different variations on how to do this, this is just my interpretation of capturing a twinkle tree photo. Give it a go. Show us your twinkle trees on our FB page:
Captured FB And if you are using a point and shoot camera try capturing your tree by doing the following: Same as above...have no other lights on. Put your camera on night mode with no flash, steady yourself on a chair, hold your breath and snap. That should do the trick!

 

Newborn Times Two

A good friend of mine had a baby girl just a few weeks ago. We were very excited that she called us to get newborn photos done. The day of the shoot Holli was awake and alert. Surpinsgly so for a 16 day old baby. I love that we were able to bundle her up and take her outside amongst the gorgeous red and yellow leaves falling.

  The following week we got a call to do another newborn session. This little cutie was only eight days old the day of the shoot. She literally just melted in our hands and made our job very easy.

   

Tour de Fat Twenty Twelve

 "For those who haven’t experienced Tour de Fat, it is a thrilling rite of passage that includes an unparalleled costumed bicycle parade, New Belgium beer, eccentric entertainment, local food, unusual bike contests and much more. The free event, which raises money for local nonprofits through beer and merchandise purchases, will soon exceed the $2 million mark for total funds raised."
I stole the above statement from the New Belgium website.  If you have never experienced Tour de Fat you are really missing out!  It's the most unique and fun parade.  People's creativity really comes out and every participant is out to have a good time...young, old, humans and furry friends!  We saw everything from alligators to zebras, superheros to santa and everything in between!
